If your voice cracks, it doesn't mean you suck or "can't hit" that note. It means there was an imbalance between pressure and airflow and your vocal folds vibrated out of sync with one another! It's science. And using that same knowledge we can figure out a way to use less pressure and more flow to allow the folds to vibrate in tandem so that you can sing that note!! Cassi Torres is a NYC-based voice expert specializing in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop, & Children’s Voices. She is the owner of Cassi Torres Music Studio, a global online community and learning studio for singers of all levels, and the co-founder of RISE Vocal Intensive - a voice and leadership training for teens. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Masters of Music in Vocal Performance-Music Theatre, and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University.
She served as Adjunct Faculty at New York University's Steinhardt School and a Professional
Assistant Professor of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, teaching private and group voice classes and large lecture music history courses. She is currently part of the voice faculty with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and Dr. Brian Gill’s Mindful Voice Training.
As a performer, Cassi’s credits include commercials, TV and film work, Off-Broadway theatre, orchestral concert soloist, and has been seen in jazz and cabaret night clubs around NYC, with Star Wars: In Concert, and at the Kennedy Center as a backup singer for Grammy-Nominated Artist Chandrika Tandon.
