Did you know all children are born with musical potential?
Our potential is activated in our social surrounds and feeds into our ability to acquire knowledge or a certain skill.
But musical intelligence atrophies if not stimulated both rhythmically and tonally. Studies show that musical aptitude stabilizes around age 7!
Long story short, if a child hasn’t been singing, dancing, or interacting with music by the age of seven, their natural aptitude to take to musical learning will be much more difficult in the future than a child who has had musical experiences at a young age.
- It made you feel that music was boring or classical music especially.
- It might’ve made you feel like you’re not smart enough or you’re just “not good at music.”
All of these are untrue! Everyone has the potential to be musical!
But remember, the learning can’t stop when the music lesson is over!
Parents need to take an active role in their children’s musical intelligence building.
Even if you feel that you are not musical, your voice is the most beautiful sound to a young child.
(If you want to expand your own musical or vocal confidence, I can help you with that too!)
